Falmouth cafe Good Vibes is offering free soup to children next week in light of the government's decision to scrap free school meals during half term.
Daniel Rossiter and Jade Phipps, owners of Good Vibes have joined businesses up and down the country supporting footballer Marcus Rashford's push to end child food poverty.
Including Castle Beach Cafe who Nub News spoke to today.
Jade told Nub News:
"We've never gone hungry and privilege is a common topic of conversation in our household, especially during the pandemic.
"I can't even imagine not having a hot meal every day, and it breaks my heart to think of children not only going hungry but not reaching their full potential because they simply don't have the energy.
"It's been a tough year for all of us, but we see Good Vibes as a business with a social responsibility and it's what pushes us every day."
This week Cornish MPs explained the decision to vote against free schools meals.
Seeing MPs vote against it Jade was in "disbelief" at what she saw, "disgust and deep, deep sadness," she said.
Jade added:
"I'm not going to say it's the job of local independent businesses to feed children in half term, but if the people in power aren't going to help there's an element of pride that so many are offering what they can, especially considering how difficult things are right now.
"It doesn't stop at half term though, or at lunchtime. It's important that we take notice of what's happening and fight for a better future for the next generation."
Good Vibes is open everyday 8am-3pm.
