Falmouth Rugby to host RFU finals day for fourth time in clubs history

Falmouth Rugby Club will be hosting the Cornwall RFU Finals Day on Saturday 22nd April for only the fourth time in their history.

Before the focus turned to the finals the club also had another 150-anniversary game on Wednesday 19th April as newly selected Falmouth President Paul Radmore's presidents XV defeated the Cornwalls Presidents XV at the Recreation ground with a 24 - 15 score line.

Cornwall's president awarded Falmouth a commemorative plaque and in return, Falmouth's president handed over a 150-year commemorative tire to the CRFU.

Saturday will see the Rec host a whole day of rugby, Falmouths chairman John Bullock said: "We are so honoured to have been chosen by the Cornwall RFU to host this event in our 150th year."

The day will also include an important game for Falmouth as they take on the Alton RFC in the Last 8 Papa Johns Community Shield (Counties 1). The Silverbacks Red Bellies (Alton RFC) beat Bude 29-10 at home in the last 16 last weekend and will be looking for another Duchy scalp this week.

1st game - DUCHY SHIELD: Saltash Rugby Club 2'S VS Hakes - St Ives RFC 2'S - KO 11:00 Tregenver Pitch 2

2nd game - SENIOR DUCHY SHIELD: Bude Rugby Club 2'S VS Wadebridge 2'S - KO 12:00 The Rec

3rd game - PAPA JOHNS COMMUNITY SHIELD (Last 8): Falmouth Rugby Eagles VS Alton RFC Silverbacks - KO 14:00 The Rec

4th game - DUCHY CUP: Veor RFC 2'S VS St Austell Rugby Football Club 3'S - KO 16:00 The Rec

5th game - SENIOR DUCHY CUP: Redruth RFC 2'S VS St Austell Rugby Football Club 2'S KO 18:00 The Rec

Entry at the gate will be £5 with Under 16s free.

The President of Falmouth Rugby Club - Paul Radmore, and Chairman John Bullock, along with all Committee and Club members, have said they look forward to welcoming the community to the Recreation Ground on this very special week for Cornish Rugby, in the Duchy.
