Falmouth football: Supporters to be allowed back into matches

By Joseph Macey 16th Sep 2021

IN an announcement, made today (19th) new guidelines have been issued to get football supporters back into matches in Falmouth and beyond.

The guidelines include a phased and limited return of spectators for clubs at steps three to six and tiers three to four.

The FA (football association) revealed details of the move today saying:

"From 22nd August to 30th August, spectators are permitted to attend fixtures at steps three to six of the NLS (National League System) and tiers three to four of the WFP (Women's Football Pyramid), providing that their number does not exceed 15 per cent of the minimum ground grading capacity at these levels or respective figures set out within our updated guidelines."

"If a club at these levels does not play any fixtures during this period, it must have played at least one pre-season or competitive fixture in accordance with its respective level of spectators before moving on to stage two."

"From 31st August, clubs at steps three to six of the NLS and tiers three to four of the WFP will be permitted to allow spectators to attend fixtures provided that their number does not exceed 30 per cent of the minimum ground grading capacity at their level or the respective figures set out within our updated guidelines.

"However, they must be satisfied that they have been able to comply with the Government's guidance on the return to recreational team sport and our updated guidelines."

The South West Peninsula Football League posted on social media urging clubs to remain vigilant saying:

"From Saturday up to 150 can be allowed, from September it rises to 300 provided a 150 limited match has been held.

"Lots of covid secure, social distancing - but if we are all sensible we can be back.

"Crowds are NOT allowed tonight (nor should they have been last night) the rules are from Saturday 22nd."
