Falmouth Rugby: Game won't return in September says RFU
Falmouth Rugby Club has responded following the RFU's latest decision on returning to play.
The latest decision means that the adult league season (Level 3 & below for men, Level 2 & below for women) will not commence in September "unless there is a dramatic improvement in the prevalence of the virus in the community."
The next announcement about when league rugby will commence will be on 1st September.
The Eagles Club chairman John Bullock told Nub News:
"Obviously as a club, I think we are slightly disappointed but I also feel that actually we were well prepared for this.
"When we went to phase B of the return to play, the RFU issued three start dates for the season, 5th September, 10th October and sometime in November so it doesn't come as a big surprise.
"I think it is the right decision because if you look at the nation as a whole the RFU is closely and correctly following Government guidelines.
"As a club, we have started conditioning training and normally at this point of the season we would be training twice a week but we are training once a week which tells you we were anticipating this situation.
"Interestingly the Scottish RFU has introduced limited tag Rugby so perhaps we will move forward to some form of tag Rugby in the near future. My underlying thought is that this is being done for the safety of our players and I fully support that process.
"As a club, we will continue to monitor it and we have now got people back interested in training and conditioning and it just gives us further room to be conditioned for when the season does actually start."
The fixtures previously published are set to be amended.
