Cornwall Resists, a coalition of radical groups formed from Resist G7, has been behind many of the protests in Falmouth over the refitting of the Bibby Stockholm barge that will house around 500 single adult males whilst their asylum claims are processed.

The group organised a public meeting at the Cornish Bank on Wednesday (28 June) as they believed the barge would be leaving today (30 June) but the departure was delayed.

On social media, they described the meeting as a chance to discuss what action to take, on the post, Cornwall Resists said: "Now is the time for us to rally together and resist. We cannot allow Bibby Stockholm to continue to its final destination.

"We cannot let the resistance dwindle at this critical moment. We must come together on Friday and do all that we can to prevent 500 men seeking freedom and safety from being imprisoned aboard this atrocity."

During the meeting, Cornwall Resists released a video of a police officer entering the Cornish Bank, after a short interaction the group begins to chant "Say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here." The police officer then left the building.

Nub New contact the force to ask why they attended the meeting, Devon and Cornwall Police said: "The police will facilitate peaceful protest and will always seek to engage with protest communities.

"An officer attended a meeting earlier this week seeking to engage with a group and inform them that police had been notified that the Bibby Stockholm would no longer be moving on Friday 30 June."

Nub News also contacted Cornwall Resists to see if they had been told why the police were in attendance, the group said: "We didn't let them speak so we don't know. By the fact their body cam was on, gathering Intel on supposed organisers, and harassment of a public meeting."

The barge has been in Falmouth since 9 May, it's unclear when it will be leaving but it Cornwall Resists have been clear that they will keep protesting.
