WATCH: New video urges people not to travel to Cornwall

By The Editor 16th Sep 2021

Cornwall's tourism body has released a video to encourage people not to visit the county ahead of Easter.

Visit Cornwall released the video yesterday to remind people not to travel during the coronavirus outbreak and to come back later in the year.

The 90-second video titled Time to Reflect urges people to stay at home and to support health services and key workers.

It also urges people to support each other in their communities including people who they may not have met before.

The video, which features images of beauty spots and iconic locations across Cornwall, states: "Our plans are on hold, our dreams are paused but good times and memories will be had again.

"So, for now, take a look from afar and know that Cornwall is here, our culture, beauty and wonder will be waiting for you along with a lovely, warm Cornish welcome."

It finishes with #seeyoulater and #lovecornwall

Visit Cornwall chief executive Malcolm Bell said the video had been created to reinforce the message to people not to travel to Cornwall.

The video comes after another campaign – #comebacklater – was launched to discourage people from travelling to Cornwall during the coronavirus crisis.

It was backed by MPs and the police who have said they will turn back anybody travelling into Cornwall on holiday.

And Cornwall Council has this week urged people to report holiday accommodation businesses which might be allowing guests and said it will take enforcement action against any breaking the government guidelines.

The Government has said that only necessary travel is permitted and that going on holiday is not allowed.
