Yesterday afternoon Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked to rescue a dog from a cliff at Roundwood Quay, Feock.

Also tasked were St Agnes Coastguard Search & Rescue Team and full time Senior Coastal Operations Officer.

On scene, a dog had slipped about 10 feet down an old quarry face cut into the cliffside and was found resting on a small ledge.

Using specialist rope rescue equipment and an animal rescue bag, a rope rescue technician was lowered to the dog and was successfully rescued.

Both the technician and dog were safely lowered to the bottom of the cliff and handed over to the owners.

A spokesperson for Falmouth Coastguard said:

"This is the third time this week we've been out to dogs over cliffs, please be careful while out taking exercise. Keep dogs on leads around cliffs and rough seas. Please remember accidents do happen and can happen to anyone."
