The Spirit of Falmouth award was today given to two residents who have worked tirelessly to better our community.

Tony Hallam and Lynn Newsham were awarded this year's title for their work with Boscawen Fields Action Group, where they coordinate the volunteers who meet every month to maintain Boscawen Fields.

Falmouth Mayor, Councillor Steve Eva, met the husband and wife to present their award.

Tony and Lynn said:

"We'd like to say a most heartfelt thanks to Councillor Tony Parker for nominating us for the very special Spirit of Falmouth Award and to Mayor Steve Eva and his wife Victoria for their attendance to make the presentation.

"It is very rewarding to see that our efforts and that of the other members of the group are appreciated by the members of Falmouth Town Council.

"This area is one of the most iconic in Falmouth and the group's ethos in managing this natural area for all to enjoy motivates us all to get out no matter what the weather and look after our treasured green open spaces."
