South West Water (SWW) has announced the date that the hosepipe ban in Cornwall and parts of Devon will come to an end.

The ban which was introduced in August 2022, has stopped residents in the county from using a hose for activities like watering their plants or cleaning their car.

SWW confirmed on their website that hosepipe restrictions will be lifted in 'Cornwall and Upper Tamar' on 25 September.

They added: "We would like to thank all our customers for their continued support and ongoing efforts to help reduce demand through this challenging time."

The ban was introduced as water resources across the region came under pressure due to what SWW described as an "unusually long dry period".

The wet summer we've experienced this year has helped our rivers and reservoirs recover, Colliford Reservoir is reported to be up %19 on last year's levels.

In April this year, South West Water prepared for a worst-case scenario as Cornwall remained in official drought status.

While the ban is still in place it's important to remember that anyone found breaking the ban, without permission to do so, may be fined up to £1,000.
