SourceFM scooped a number of prizes at the recent Community Radio Awards.

Held in Coventry on Saturday 23rd October, SourceFM collected four awards.

A gold award was received for the Falmouth Remembrance Service in the category Live Event or Outside Broadcast of the Year.

It was recognised by Falmouth Town Council that many people would be unable to attend the Remembrance Service due to covid. The Town Council approached SourceFM which resulted in a video and audio relay of the service.

The Remembrance Day Service on 14th November in Kimberley Park will again be broadcast live.

Mayor of Falmouth, Steve Eva said:

"We're delighted to congratulate our community partner Source FM on their Community Radio Awards. Well-deserved recognition for their excellent coverage of the Falmouth Remembrance Service."

A Space to Speak Your Mind, a programme focusing on mental health issues and presented by those who have lived experience, was nominated in three categories overcoming.

The programme, which is produced in collaboration with Cornwall MIND, also received Bronze awards for two categories, Community Show of the Year and Innovation of the Year.

Richard Perks from Cornwall MIND commented:

"We are so pleased to have won these awards. Receiving silver for the Community Development Project of the year is particularly poignant as this award is designed to showcase fantastic projects dealing with community issues and the link with Cornwall Mind and better mental health is pivotal to the success of 'A Space To Speak Your Mind."

In 2019, Source won both Gold and Silver in the Live Event or Outside Broadcast of the Year with Source FM Christmas Party 2018 and Parklive respectively.

Jade Dunbar, Chair of Source FM added:

"It is especially pleasing to me that both programmes that received awards are produced by teams and are collaborations with the community. As a Community Radio Service, we want to do more with the community and as part of the community."
