Somewhere over the rainbow: Falmouth adds a pop of colour with new logo

By The Editor 16th Sep 2021

Those engaging with 'Love Falmouth' on social media may have noticed recently that the destination's logo has been altered.

This is to reflect the brilliant community that has pulled together despite facing unknown challenges in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the past few months, businesses, organisations and individuals in the town have shown remarkable strength, kindness and the ability to adapt, pivot and help those who need it most.

Some examples of this are Falmouth-based Concept Shed who, together with Dufort Associates in Wadebridge, started mass producing PPE equipment for care workers and Robin Markland and his community group, Community Heart.

As well as his Facebook group, 'Covid-19 Mutual aid and solidarity' that is making sure local vulnerable people appealing for help with vital day-to-day tasks, like picking up prescriptions from the pharmacy, are aided by the community.

Richard Wilcox, Falmouth Business Improvement District (BID) Manager said:

"In light of the current situation, we have undertaken work on the Falmouth destination logo. We wanted to refine Falmouth's brand narrative but also include a symbol of hope and inclusivity in difficult times.

"It is naturally heavily inspired by the rainbow that has become a symbol of hope and support for the NHS and key frontline workers throughout the pandemic. Creating this logo is our little way of engaging and showing our gratitude, support and hope for all who need and deserve it during these unprecedented times."

Richard continued:

"We want to encourage businesses in the town to use this logo on their literature, email sign-offs, marketing and social media. This will very much be part of our collective and collaborative approach so we hope for plenty of engagement and sharing amongst Falmouth's diverse business landscape.

"The intention is to present current and immediate future comms, engagement activities, schemes, initiatives and events under the newly styled 'Rainbow Spirit of the Sea' logo.

"We also plan on launching a community-inspired digital and social campaign rolled out over the coming weeks."

The new Falmouth logo can be found in a detailed online business re-opening toolkit created by the BID to help businesses with as much support and advice as possible.

This toolkit will be monitored and revised as new information becomes available and can be viewed and downloaded here.
