Second Tree Planted in Falmouth for Passmore Edwards 200th Anniversary
A second Tree has been planted in Falmouth to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Passmore Edwards.
20 trees are being planted to celebrate the Cornish-born philanthropist, with a tree being planted in each of the communities in Cornwall that have a Passmore Edwards building.
Last month the first tree donated by Cornwall Council was planted at Kimberley Park:Tree planted in Falmouth to celebrate 200th anniversary of John Passmore Edwards.
Yesterday morning Councillor Dean Evans who has helped organise events in Falmouth for the celebration of Passmore Edwards was at the Age UK Day Care Centre at the top of Killigrew St, the former Passmore Edwards Cottage hospital to plant a tree.
Dean was helped by three of the daycare centre clients, Willie, doing the work, Ron, supervising, and Doris, seated. Whilst Dee, one of the Centre assistants, assists Lucy Downing, the Centre Manager, ensuring that all went to plan.
Lucy said that they all loved the Passmore Edwards building and were really pleased to join in with the bicentenary celebrations.
Last month Dean held a talk so people could Learn more about the history of John Passmore Edwards and his impact on Falmouth.
