Penryn residents were left astonished this afternoon as a huge swarm of bees attempted to make a new home in the town centre.

It is thought between 15-20,000 bees landed on Lower Market Street, by the zebra crossing, hovering and swarming around the queen.

Images of the bees were shared to Nub News by Penryn Town Council, with a local beekeeper called out to help them on their way.

Maurice, from Constantine, managed to get the queen and the followers into a box and relocated to a more suitable place.
