Star Glazers, a pottery painting cafe based on the High Street, Falmouth, has urged customers to think before they book after a series of no shows leaving them disappointed and angry.
Speaking from an empty shop, owner Christine Walker revealed the business had 24 no shows in one day this week, meaning a loss in revenue, not enough to cover staff wages.
"If there is a chance that you are not going to turn up, don't book a table," Christine said.
The shop had 4 tables that didn't show up over the weekend, tables which could have been filled "3 times over" - even turning away walk-ins waiting for the customers to arrive.
"This is the impact your no shows have on a small business," Christime said in a statement.
Although the business has introduced £10 deposits on the tables, meaning £30 for the no shows, that covers very little.
Christine added:
"Please people be kind to your small independents, it's been a tough year and days like today do not help.
"If you want your small independents you have got to use them or you are going to lose them.
"I wish I had something more cheerful to tell you but I am absolutely devastated and a little bit angry."
