Proposed housing scheme in Flushing will be 100% affordable
A bid for a 100% affordable development in Flushing will contribute to the immediate need for housing in the local area.
Submitted by Trewin Design Architects on behalf of Cornwall Council's Housing Delivery team (the applicant) - the plans outline intentions to build 15 affordable dwellings near Tregew Meadows comprising 3 bungalows, flats, and 10 houses.
The housing would be split 70% social/affordable rent and 30% shared ownership.

The first phase comprising 10 dwellings was constructed in 2011. The application being considered is essentially the second phase of this development.
"The provision of new housing off Tregew Meadows is a sustainable location. The proposed development is well located to take advantage of the benefits of being close to Flushing and its local services," the application reads.
It is believed residents of the housing on this site would be well served by existing public transport provisions, and key services are accessible by non-vehicular modes of transport.

The applicant states:
"The provision of new much-needed affordable housing in a sustainable location. The delivery of 15 dwellings 100% affordable, in an area of clear and demonstrable housing need is vital.
"Local Planning Authorities are required to boost the supply of housing. In this context, the proposed development is developable, viable, and deliverable now and will contribute to the immediate need for market and affordable housing delivery in the area."
Completion is expected next year, May 2023. The homes will be made available for occupation in Summer 2023.
The current status of the application is "awaiting decision".
