Falmouth Town Council is planning a series of events to commemorate a momentous occasion which sees her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II celebrate 70 years on the throne.

In June, the nation will enjoy a four-day bank holiday to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The traditional May bank holiday weekend has been moved to Thursday 2nd June, with an additional bank holiday on Friday 3rd June to create a four-day weekend.

To celebrate, Falmouth Town Council is funding a series of events, taking place throughout the town over the Jubilee period, to bring Falmouth residents together in true British style.

The town will come alive with live music, bunting, street performers and dancing to commemorate Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II's reign as monarch.

The full schedule

Thursday 2nd June - Beacon lighting at Pendennis Castle.

Friday 3rd June - Mayor's jubilee parade through town and tea party at Princess Pavilion.

Saturday 4th June - Falmouth street party.

Sunday 5th June - Jubilee picnic in the park (Hosted by Source FM).

"We know how important events like this are to Falmouth residents, so we wanted to ensure we honoured the occasion accordingly," said Falmouth Town Mayor, Councillor Steve Eva. He continues, "we want to give people the opportunity to come together in our wonderful town, to celebrate this truly historic occasion."

These initiatives are supported with funds from Falmouth Town Council, the A&P Group, and Falmouth and Penryn Grants Foundation.

However, several organisations and businesses have contributed to the event planning - The Royal Naval Association, Lt Cdr Trevor Brooks, RNO Falmouth, Reach Maintenance, Infinitus Security, Pendennis & St Mawes Castles, Falmouth & Penryn Churches Together, Falmouth BID, Nankersey Male Choir, The Princess Pavilion, and Source FM.

Some of the events are ticketed - click here for more information on how to book.
