Ahead of the first community meeting on the 16th of January (full list here: Dates and location) for the Pendennis Headland site that included the Ships and Castles leisure centre, the Pendennis Leisure Group has provided an update that includes an online form for any volunteers that may be able to help.

The group says they are putting together plans to reconfigure the swimming pool into a 25m pool together with a separate learner pool which balances the needs and wants of the community while also keeping within budget. The group is also in regular contact with architects, surveyors, and pool plant professionals to guide the business plan and the design and costings.

Before any of the work can be done on the new Pool, Pendennis Leisure explained what they are focusing on right now, they shared this message on social media: "As stated previously, we will need to raise considerable capital by way of grants and/or external funding which we will keep applying for and we continue to seek and identify possible opportunities.

"In the meantime, and in tandem, we are working on the ' meanwhile' plan - how we use the building in the short term before the new pool can be built - see, we said it was exciting!

"Our priority is to get the gym/fitness space up and running (if viable) and we would also like to best utilise the space (both indoor and outdoor) and work with local groups, organisations, and individuals to get people back up to Ships and Castles, enjoying the space and the lovely headland. We will soon need volunteers to step up to help us please and will post when we identify the need for specific skills and other help."

The group has selected a range of key areas where they may need help:
