Falmouth Nub News is delighted to announce the launch of our new obituaries section as part of our continued commitment to building strong ties with the local community.

As an online local newspaper sitting right at the heart of the town, we have partnered with Penryn & Falmouth Funeral Directors to offer this new service to their clients.

Obituaries have always been a fundamental part of local newspapers, so we are excited to be "bringing obituaries back to life" for Falmouth Nub News.

Family and friends can view and share the entries, which will remain on the obituaries section.

Penryn & Falmouth Funeral Directors was set up by Robin Hattswell-Burt and joined by Roy Sanders who still own and run the business today.

They are based on Kernick Road, Penryn, and have been serving the community for nearly 20 years.

In 2020, Daniel Shermon joined the team as a Funeral Director, he told Nub News:

"The ethos of the business is to provide a quality personal service at a fair price. The business has always maintained to keep the funeral prices as reasonable as possible.

"Being an independent company means that we care passionately about the service that we provide."

They are the only independently owned Funeral Directors in Penryn and Falmouth.

They are available 24 hours a day, advising on all legal formalities and taking the pressure away from families in matters such as clergy and officiants, crematoria, doctors, cemeteries and hotels.

The business also engages with its own professional florist providing fresh local and imported flowers, whilst also driving their fleet of purpose-built Mercedes Hearse and State Limousines.

Nub News CEO Karl Hancock said:

"Falmouth Nub News is bringing obituaries back to life. They used to be some of the most well-read pages in local newspapers. We want to bring that back.

"We give residents in Falmouth and Penryn a platform to celebrate the life of a loved one. This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to serving the community.

"We are delighted to partner with Penryn & Falmouth Funeral Directors to offer this valuable service for the town."

Daniel Shermon added:

"One of the most expensive things for families these days can be obituaries in the local newspapers, so in order to try and keep costs down, we are delighted to be able to offer Nub News obituaries free of charge."
