A newly opened 1940s themed tea room in Falmouth has announced its first 5-star hygiene rating.

The Four-Teas Tea Room and Event Space, which opened last month, aims to be an authentic getaway to the 1940s.

The food is as authentic as possible to the era, along with the decor and music.

Angie, volunteer at Four-Teas Tea Room and Event Space, told Nub News:

"It feels like we have climbed Everest and its nice to be acknowledged for all our hard work. It's something we take very seriously as customers deserve a safe environment to eat.

"We are very allergen aware and try to support people to make safe choices when eating out, which can often be a bit of a nightmare.

"We are immensely proud of achieving this and thank you also to the staff who maintain the chef's high standard of cleanliness and food safety in the tearoom itself.

"All our staff are trained to level 1 or 2 in food safety and the chef and owner are trained to level 3 in Food Safety & Allergen Awareness.

"We also cater to those who may be watching their weight with our 'light rations' menu where things are cooked without fat and alternatives to butter and cream are used.

"It's proving quite a hit with those who attend local slimming groups.

"Local customers are essential to the success of our business and we hope this will be a welcoming space where they can eat and drink homemade food at reasonable prices and in comfortable, pleasant surroundings.

"Customer satisfaction is paramount to us and we hope to be here for many years."

The Four-Teas Tea Room and Event Space also host weekly markets and the event space can be hired for functions.
