Town Mayor Steve Eva paid a recent to Cockwells Modern & Classic Boatbuilding's Mylor Creek HQ following a screening of a new film.

The film was screened during the G7, entitled Blue and Green

Technologies Leading Cornwall's Coastal Revolution.

The Mayor, accompanied by Town Clerk, Mark Williams, was taken on a tour of the purpose-built, low-environmental-impact facilities that enable Cockwells to design and build high quality, advanced

engineered craft; innovate at the cutting-edge of boat manufacture, and successfully compete at the very highest level both in the UK and across the world.

From stunning custom-built superyacht tenders for multi-million-pound motherships to semi-production Duchy Motor Launches for cruising and relaxing, the Mayor was guided through the design and construction process, and shown the latest models in build.

"Combining the latest technological innovations, manufacturing processes and materials with the artisan skills of the traditional shipwright is what sets us apart in the highly competitive marine sector and we were delighted to share our ambitious plans for expansion with the Mayor of Falmouth," explains Founder & Managing Director, Dave Cockwell.

"Our recent acquisition of The South West Shipyard at Ponsharden and the assets of Norfolk-based Hardy Marine, together with a very strong forward order book, enable us to increase our capacity to build larger vessels and recruit more skilled boatbuilders and tradespeople in the local area.

"Anyone out there who is keen to join us on our journey is invited to make contact to find out about the new career opportunities that our continuing expansion creates.

"Cornwall's marine industry contributes more than £1 billion to the regional economy and it is impressive to view the high-end products that are being created by Falmouth's maritime businesses first-hand," adds Cllr Eva.

"To know that Cockwells' boats, with their global reputation for

excellence, are being built within a few miles of the town, is something that we should all be proud of and we wish them well with their plans for expansion as they mark their 25th year in business."
