Falmouth Town Council has confirmed to Nub News that certain public toilets in the town will be opened on a trial run.

The council told us that making the public toilets active to the public "is not as easy as simply re-opening the doors again."

Mark Williams, Falmouth Town Planner, told Nub News:

"We had planned a trial re-opening for 15th June at Grove Place, where we could make some physical changes to ensure social distancing and look at enhanced hygiene measures.

"With the town centre-opening on that day, we have brought the trial forward (8th June) and extended it to include the toilets at Prince of Wales Pier and Kimberley Park as well as Grove Place.

"Webber Street will remain closed to the public."

The opening hours will be 7 days a week, 9am to 5pm.

Mark told Nub News that there were reservations in opening beach facilities regarding safety and possibly encouraging people to visit and stay longer.

"The appalling behaviour of some people does require a resource to be required," he continued.

"For that reason provisionally there could be a limited opening of Falmouth beach toilets from 22nd June."
