Local News by Joseph Macey 16th Sep 2021

The 23rd edition of the Falmouth Oyster Festival got off to a flyer yesterday, with jump-jive band Company B playing an electric set to a very happy audience.

Looking forward to today, the grand opening with chef Emily Scott from St Tudy Inn starts at 11am, with a cooking demonstration from 11.30-12.30.

Live music from Barn Dance and Folk music band The Tinners at 1pm till 2pm. A short break in between with a Cookery demonstration from Nick Batten and Ashley Carkeet, Cornwall College. The Tinners are back on stage at 3pm-4pm.

Matt Slater from the Cornwall Wildlife Trust then takes over. Matt will be joined by Head chef of the Idle Rocks in St Mawes, Guy Owen, to discuss the non-native Pacific oyster.

Thursday comes to a close with entertainment from Johnny Cowling, and live music from The Countrymen, that is from 7pm-11pm.

Daytime entry is free, a ticket for evening entertainment is £10. Tickets can be bought on the door.
