Three pubs from Falmouth have been named finalists for Cornish Pub of the Year by the Cornish Tourism Awards.

The Boathouse, Pandora Inn and The Working Boat were selected for the final by mystery shoppers throughout the year.

Each contender was also judged by a panel made up of industry heavyweights, experts and past winners.

Over two hundred contenders were applicable for the Tourism Awards this year, with other awards including: Cafe of the year, Dog Friendly Business of the year and even Holiday Park and Village of the year.

Lucy Whittaker, a member of staff at The Boathouse for three years, told Nub News Falmouth:

"All of the pubs in the final are super similar. Great views, great food and Falmouth based. That is obviously the winning formula.

"Falmouth is obviously very seasonal, with Winter months causing businesses to often fall off a cliff - so locals are really at the heart of the pub.

"That isn't to say that our mixture of customers isn't great - we still host students, tourists and families.

"Everyone is super welcoming, from the staff to the people who drink and eat here. You always hear about the stigma of students and locals not mixing well, but that doesn't exist here, not in this pub."

An award ceremony will be held at Truro Cathedral on the 7th November, where the winners from each category will be announced.

Catherine Croft, the manager at Pandora Inn, told Nub News Falmouth:

"To receive year on recognition for what we do is a tremendous feeling for us and our team".
