The supermarket giant Lidl has included Falmouth in a list of possible new store locations across the UK.

Lidl already has 950 sites across the country but is aiming for that figure to grow to 1,100 by the end of 2025.

Confirming its huge expansion plans, Lidl on the 24th of April released a list of 1,168 locations where it wants to open new stores.

There is currently already a Lidl in Penryn on Falmouth Road but the town has still been included in a long list of potential sites, from which a number of stores will eventually be developed and opened.

The ambitious list of locations also included a second Lidl being built in Truro 'East' as well as a number of areas in Cornwall.

Lidl GB Chief Development Officer, Richard Taylor, said: "Our store expansion has been and continues to be unparalleled. In the last three months alone, we've opened 15 new stores – more than any other retailer, and in 2022 we welcomed customers through the doors of over 50 new stores.

Members of the public have been invited to help Lidl find new locations for sites and will be given a finder's fee of either 1.5% of the total freehold or 10% of the first year's rent for leasehold. Desired Locations will have easy access for pedestrians and space for parking.
