The Falmouth branch of Halifax will close later this year.

Lloyds Banking Group is closing 28 branches this year. Including 20 Lloyds branches and 8 Halifax branches.

As a result, the Falmouth Halifax on Killigrew Street will be closing on September 7th 2022.

Halifax, part of Lloyds Banking Group, explained the reasons for closure in a branch review, saying:

"Like many other high street businesses, we've seen people using our branches less frequently in recent years as more customers choose to do most of their everyday banking online. We're responding to the way our customers use our branches.

"We'll continue to invest in our branch network, but we have to make sure our branches are where customers need and use them most. As a result, we've made the difficult decision to close this branch because customers are using it less often. In addition, the majority of customers are also using alternative ways to bank.

"You can use any of our branches and our nearest alternative is the Redruth branch. You can also use a Post Office for your everyday banking. We're still here to support you, and there are a number of ways you can bank with us."

In a statement, a Halifax spokesperson told Nub News:

"We've seen far fewer people visit our Falmouth branch over several years, with customers now choosing to do their banking in different ways. When the branch closes in September, customers can continue to bank in person with us at the local Post Office which is a short walk away, as are several free-to-use ATMs."
