Falmouth: New units at Tregoniggie Industrial Estate will provide practical and affordable spaces for businesses
There are plans to make better use of an area on Tregoniggie Industrial Estate Falmouth with new commercial units.
Submitted this month by Rosemary Lynch Chartered Architect on behalf of Mr Sleeman from Trident Ltd (the applicant) - an outline application shows intentions to build a series of units at 'The Old Highways Depot'.
This application is to create two industrial and office units, intended for commercial renting. The units will be of various sizes and parking (both for cars and vans) will be provided for each unit.
The applicant states:
"Practical, affordable, commercial space is highly sought after in Falmouth and this proposal provides an opportunity for the existing plot to be better utilised. The site is a large commercial plot that presently is being underused, with a single office building and external storage space."
The scheme shows two units, one on the North-West boundary containing six units and one on the South-East containing two units. Both double-storey, allowing for practical workshop space at ground floor level with vehicle access and office spaces at upper level, using the natural landscape to provide access. The spaces will be flexible, providing a location for multiple commercial uses.
The units are proposed to be constructed in steel frame, with profile metal sheeting as cladding to the elevations. The applicant is also aiming to make the units as sustainable as possible with solar panels on part of the roof.
A conclusion reads:
"The proposed work will enhance the existing commercial site, making it more usable. The proposal will also allow local businesses to access affordable, lock-up premises of a range of sizes and configuration with parking."
