There were lengthy delays on the roads yesterday with Stithians Show traffic, broken down vehicles, and accidents.

Traffic caused a headache for Stithians Show visitors with some waiting for up to two hours.

Traffic came to a standstill again later in the afternoon after an accident involving four vehicles.

An update from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said the incident occurred on the A39 between Perranarworthal and Penryn at around 3:30pm.

Fire crews from Falmouth, Truro, and Tolvaddon attended alongside Devon & Cornwall Police and the ambulance service.

A Cornwall Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "One appliance from Falmouth, one from Truro, the rescue tender from Tolvaddon and a whole-time officer from Falmouth attended this incident.

"On arrival, a four vehicle road traffic collision was discovered. Crews released one casualty from a vehicle and made the scene safe.

"Devon & Cornwall Police and Ambulance were also in attendance."
