It was busy at Stithians Show today for the first show in three years.

There was travel chaos on the roads this afternoon.

Traffic was described as "horrendous" today (11th), the organisers said it was a combination of sunny weather and good attendance for the first show in three years, alongside new traffic and parking arrangements.

The traffic was too much for some with many people saying on social media they had simply turned home.

One person commented: "Need a one way system for next year. Or dedicated lane for animal transport. Stuck In traffic for a very long time with horses at risk of over heating in the lorry."

A second said: "Spent 1 1/2 hours in the queue from just before Lanner, the only time we moved was when someone turned around, horrendous, have been going for many years and never had these queues, turned around and came home."

Among the comments were praise for the helpful parking attendants.

A Stithians Show spokesperson added: "It has been a very busy day and the broken down cars and accidents that occurred impacted the traffic issues, unfortunately."

There were further delays at around 3pm on the A39 Perranarworthal due to a multi-vehicle collision blocking the road near the turning for Mylor. The accident was reportedly cleared just before 5pm.
