An estimated 50 people with their dogs took part in a 5k run this morning to raise money for Dogs Trust.

The route started on the grounds of Pendennis Castle, around Pendennis Point, along Cliff Road and back to the castle.

Falmouth Mayor, Steve Eva, was on scene to deliver a speech before the run began, highlighting the importance of Dogs Trust and thanking everyone for being in attendance.

On completion, runners with dogs were treated to a goodie bag full of dog treats, while runners without dogs were given a pair of Dogs Trust socks.

Helen Morris, a volunteer at the Dogs Trust, told Nub News: "I absolutely love dogs, I wanted to help Dogs Trust in their mission to help save the lives of dogs.

"Dogs Trust cares for over 15,000 dogs throughout the UK and Ireland, it is a charity that is very close to my heart and I just want to do everything I can to help.

"I thought it would be really good fun to organise a doggy fun run with the help of a lot of fantastic volunteers.

"I am always looking for volunteers because I have other fundraising activities planned, the volunteers have really enjoyed it today and it is a great thing to get involved in."
