The charity abseil hosted by the West Cornwall Search and Rescue team has raised over £2000.

On saturday people were invited to abseil down the side of the National Maritime Museum's Lookout Tower.

They were encouraged to get sponsors for their bravery, with all the proceeds going to the operational costs that keep the team running.

Nub News Falmouth spoke to Mark Grantham, member of the Search and Rescue team, he said:

"We have annual operating costs of just over £15,000 a year. This is for the maintenance of vehicles, replenishments of medical kits and more.

"Due to the team being wholly made up of volunteers, with no funding from government, fundraising is vital to keep the work we do going".

West Cornwall Search and Rescue search for lost, missing and injured people throughout Cornwall - working alongside emergency services to rescue people in difficult and dangerous places.
