Falmouth doctor appeals for supplies following hospital shortages

A Falmouth doctor working locally at Falmouth Hospital has put out an appeal on Facebook for unwanted scrubs, due to current shortages.

Aida Lopez, doctor and GP at Falmouth Hospital, has asked residents for any unwanted scrubs to be washed at 60 degrees and left outside Falmouth hospital tomorrow morning.

Aida told Nub News:

"The reason behind the plea for scrubs is that Coronavirus can live for many hours on clothes and can be passed on, infecting other people.

"The idea is for doctors to change into scrubs while seeing patients, then bag them before going out of clinical places and washing them at high temperature at home to destroy the coronavirus, hence reducing the risk of transmission to family members and the general public.

"Scrubs are made of a cotton mix that copes well with high temperature whether most daily worn clothes don't."

If you are able to donate, there will be a box left outside Falmouth Hospital tomorrow morning.
