Falmouth Community Fridge
The Falmouth Community Fridge was founded by Robin Markland who also runs Community Heart, a Social, emotional, and environmental organisation that brings people together.
Speaking to Robin he explained that the idea of supplying food first started in Lockdown when he handed out food parcels to the most vulnerable members of the community.
Robin then decided to start the Falmouth Community fridge to help anyone struggling, he said: "Some people may only struggle for a few days but if they are having to choose between food or rent then this can be of real help."
As we reach December many people have been struggling to cover their bills, if you or someone you know could use some extra help then head down to the Community Fridge.
You can find the fridge in the Falmouth Town Council One Stop shop on Falmouth Moor next door to BooKoos restaurant, it's Open from 9.30 am to 4 pm - Monday to Friday, no questions asked, just help yourself and leave some for others if you can.
The food items will be sourced from donations, local supermarkets, cafe's and veg growers and donations, trying to offer the community a healthy selection of food. The main goals are to prevent many tonnes of food waste from going to landfill and create more resilient communities by tackling local food poverty.
The Community Fridge is currently running low on funds so if you're able to make a financial donation to help keep the initiative going, particularly at this crucial time of ever-rising bills then get in touch at Falmouth Community Fridge all the funds raised will go towards food supplies.
The project has been supported by Falmouth Town Council who have given Robin the location for the fridge, and the Gleaning Network Falmouth area who help supply some of the food donations.
