The Falmouth cafe that only got to open two days before it closed due to the pandemic is finally on track.

The tumultuous journey to getting the business ticking along properly in the midst of a global pandemic has been tough for owner Nicki.

Spice'n'Ice, situated on Bank Place opposite Trago, started off operating as a takeaway but has now opened up their establishment to allow for seating outside and inside.

Nicki told Nub News: "We've also had the normal struggle that a brand new business would normally have anyway, on top of the lockdown."

Describing the route to opening as a "bit of a rollercoaster", Nicola has been taking every day as it comes and kept a positive attitude throughout all of the challenges.

"The main challenge for us has been operating from such a small space," Nicola said.

"We've only now been able to open up the shop properly as we have struggled with the social distancing.

"Of course the customer's safety is paramount to us, but we have done a lot of troubleshooting and all the customers have been respectful to the rules in place."

Spice'n'Ice isn't your usual cafe. Living up to its name, the menu is full of spice.

Whether it's a milkshake, brownie or smoothie - you have the option to add chillies to anything.

Nicki continued: "One customer said it's nice to eat some nachos where the spice is actually in the chilli as opposed to just a jalapeño or two put on top.

"They've really got on board and had a bit of fun with it, the double-decker chilli brownies have gone down a storm, along with the option of adding chilli to your shake."

Spice'n'Ice have had a difficult opening but now they're well on their way to achieving what they want to.
