Falmouth businesses pick up honours in South West Tourism Awards

Two businesses around Falmouth have picked up awards at this year's event while one other was commended after just missing out.

On Thursday 23rd of March leading tourism businesses from across the South West attended the Eden Project to celebrate as over 90 were handed out.

The Idle Rocks hotel that is perched on the rocks in the heart of St Mawes opposite Falmouth picked up gold in the restaurant of the year category, the hotel shared a message on social media: "Wow, what an honour to be awarded GOLD. We are absolutely delighted to receive this award: it's recognition of hard work, passion, skill & dedication from our restaurant team - you are all amazing.

"Congratulations to all the other finalists, in all the categories, especially Ocean View Bar & Dining at The Dome & Number 15 at GuestHouse Hotels, it's an honour to stand alongside you, celebrating the successes of South West tourism."

The Idle Rocks were also commended after missing out on bronze In the small hotel of the year category.

The Budock Vean Hotel which is around 6 miles outside the centre of Falmouth managed to pick up bronze in the large hotel of the year category. Last year they received gold in the Cornish Tourism awards.

The Boathouse were unfortunate not to pick up any awards as they were commended after missing out on bronze in the pub of the year category. Last year they picked up gold in the Cornwall Tourism awards.
