Yesterday afternoon on New Years Day, a crew from Falmouth Community Fire Station were tasked to assist in tackling a residential blaze.

Multiple calls were received at 11:46am that a residential property was on fire in the St Austell Area.

"On arrival, the first message was smoke and flames issuing and requesting additional appliances," a spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said.

They added:

"Additional resources and specialist appliances from Mevagissey, Truro, Wadebridge and Falmouth were assigned to the incident.

"Multiple breathing apparatus sets, main jets, hose reel jets and 135 ladders were used to extinguish the fire. Western Power and Devon & Cornwall Police also attended."

The services were praised for their teamwork to prevent the fire spreading.
