Prior approval has been granted for the installation of solar panels at Penryn Campus.

"Prior approval" is a formal submission to a local planning authority and the purpose of it is to seek confirmation that specified parts of a development are acceptable - before work can begin.

If the plans go ahead, it will see solar panels fitted across university campus rooftops on non-domestic buildings (mix of flat and pitched roofs) at Penryn Campus.

In a concluding statement, Louise Wood, Service Director for Planning and Sustainable Development at Cornwall Council said:

"Prior approval is not required providing that the buildings used are non-domestic."
