A run-down Portakabin is set to be transformed into a brand new ice cream servery with a canopy at Maenporth Beach Cafe.
Life's a Beach Cafe, Maenporth, was granted conditional approval this week for the upgrades.
The work would see a "dilapidated and unsafe" Portakabin replaced with a new timber-clad shipping container for an ice cream servery, office, and store.
A second container will replace the existing dilapidated storage shed for watersports equipment. The applicant stated that both containers should be painted dark grey and clad in vertical cedar board.
Also in the application are plans to replace the canopy at the front of the kiosk which is currently held up by scaffold poles. The proposal is to replace this with a sturdy timber-framed structure with a clear polycarbonate roof.
The plans were recommended for approval at a recent Falmouth Town Council planning committee meeting.
Conditional approval was then given this week (January 31st) by Cornwall Council.
