An application has been submitted for 12 one-bed supported living units in Penryn.
The proposal involves the erection of purpose-built accommodation with staff and communal facilities.
The application is working alongside Cornwall NHS Foundation Trust to develop housing with specialist high-level support to help clients with mental health disabilities and physical disabilities to live within their local community with the mental health support they need on a day to day basis.
The proposed site lies immediately north and to the rear of the town centre buildings that front Lower Market Street along the north side of the street.
Adjoining the site to the south is a public car park which is accessed by vehicle from the Permarin Road (Permarin Road Car
Park) and provides pedestrian access to Lower Market Street. The application has been submitted by Richard Freeman of Pivotal Developments Services. The application concludes: "It is demonstrated that the proposed is a sustainable form of development that will bring about benefits through the reuse of previously developed land (brownfield land); provide specialist residential accommodation for an identified group in need; provide employment, and support local services and facilities. "The proposal is considered to preserve the historic environment and safeguard the amenities of neighbouring properties and future occupants."
