Falmouth's historic live arts venue, The Poly, has been awarded a vital grant from the government's Culture Recovery Fund.

The grant has been described as a "lifeline" by the much-loved venue after recent struggles due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

A spokesperson for The Poly commented on the funding saying:

"We're so grateful and relieved to be making this announcement. Like many other arts and cultural organisations, since our doors closed in March this year we weren't sure what the future of The Poly looked like, and we're thrilled that Arts Council England have been able to give us this lifeline.

"The money we receive from this successful bid will ensure The Poly's future as part of Falmouth's cultural landscape, and allow us to weather the storm to bring you more theatre, film, comedy, music and more.

"We would also like to thank everyone in our community for their support over this incredibly difficult time. We'll be making some more announcements shortly about our future programme, as well as some news about our community projects."
