Falmouth Town Clerk Mark Williams has said he is "disappointed" after some groups are still choosing to ignore social distancing requirements in the parks.
The details were published on social media by Falmouth Town Council yesterday stating that a majority of the public have been using them responsibly and observing the social distancing requirements.
However, some people are not and that if it continues it may cause the Council "to review public access to some or all of its sites."
Mark Williams, Falmouth Town Clerk, told Nub News:
"I am frustrated truth be told, our teams have worked hard to make sure these sites stay open and are nice and pleasant environments to use. It would have been easy and safer to furlough those staff and close these amenities. However, that wasn't the right thing to do.
"So those people that flout the regulations could make it detrimental to the majority of responsible users when we need to look at whether we close the sites or not. So yes I am disappointed. We are having to have dedicated officers talking to those individuals. Many of whom they speak to are apathetic to the requirements or are actively confrontational at the need for them.
"We are also looking at placing some barriers in Kimberley Park today as skateboarders are repeatedly ignoring the social distancing guidance."
He also explained that some residents are choosing not to use the parks because they are concerned that others are putting them at risk by not observing social distancing.
He added:
"We must continue to reinforce the messaging of stay at home, please use our parks as part of your daily walk, but do so safely and observe the social distancing requirements."
