Falmouth and Penryn residents have taken to social media to send a warning to dog owners following the spotting of dead squirrels and a fox around Glasney Valley, Penryn.

A Penryn resident took to social media to discuss how she had come across two dead squirrels and a dead fox in the space of five days.

Many residents are worried that the cause could be poison, though there is no current confirmation on what the cause of death could be.

One resident wrote:

"None of these poor creatures seem to have any markings of being attacked.

"As far as I know these animals have few predators other than a man. It's known that weed killer and other pesticides are highly toxic so please be very careful when walking your dogs."

Falmouth Nub News has contacted Cornwall Council and Natural England for any information they may have.

Natural England inspects land where there's been a report of animals killed or injured by possible pesticides.

"How awful, heartbreaking," said another resident.
