Lidl has revealed where it would like to open new supermarkets - with plans to open a new store in Falmouth.

Lidl says it is "looking for great quality locations for our new stores, to help us continue our phenomenal growth."

The supermarket chain is on the lookout for "prominent locations" with easy access and strong pedestrian or traffic flow, in addition to that they are looking for:

  • Freehold, leasehold or long leasehold opportunities.
  • Unit sizes flexible on design and scale between 14,000 and 26,500 sq ft.
  • 1.5 acres plus for standalone stores or up to 4 acres for
mixed-use schemes.

The other sites in Cornwall that Lidl is looking at for potential locations are:

  • Truro
  • Redruth
  • Camborne
  • St Ives
  • Torpoint
  • St Austell - West

There are options when it comes to the opening of the store it could be from the conversion of an existing building or in the form of a new build.

The company said the opening of new stores is to help "double" their portfolio.

A Lidl store already exists between Penryn and Falmouth, which would make this development the second store in the area.

There is no specific date of when this opening could happen.

Nub News has contacted Lidl for further information.
