A yellow weather warning has been issued for Cornwall as heavy rain is expected to move across the region (including Falmouth), beginning today.
The heavy rain is expected to come in this evening and could cause some flooding and travel disruption, it will continue until tomorrow morning.
What to expect?
- There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater and some communities could be cut off by flooded roads.
- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.
- Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer and may lead to some road closures.
- Where flooding occurs, there is a chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services.
The full forecast is as follows:
"Heavy rain is expected to develop over parts of Wales during Wednesday afternoon and evening and then move gradually southwards during Wednesday night.
"This should then break up and clear during Thursday morning. 20 to 30 mm rain is expected quite widely and in a few places between 50 and 70 mm rain could fall, the bulk of this within 6 hours."
The Kernow Weather Team said on social media:
"The Met Office has now issued a yellow warning for rain between 4pm today and 9am tomorrow (Thursday).
"Heavy, thundery downpours moving in from SW could cause travel disruption."
