Yesterday evening, Jacobs Ladder hosted the first of their exciting new events "Autumn Sessions."

I hadn't been to see any form of live music since the beginning of lockdown all the way back in March - it has gone quickly right?

I was kindly approached by Jack Fitt to come and see the Autumn Sessions - so thanks to Spencer and Jack and the team for a great evening.

In the first edition of the sessions was Zoe Cansdale, a 25-year-old singer/songwriter from London.

Zoe plays indie/folk acoustic style music with influences ranging from Laura Marling, Kate Nash, Lorde and Billie Eilish.

A brilliant set sat with a burger in a cosy corner of the pub, what more could you ask for?

Zoe took us through a series of covers with the relaxing tones from Wicked Games (Chris Issak), Passionfruit (Drake)and Spooky (Dusty Springfield).

Weaved through those covers were some of her originals, Stay The Night and Jack Sparrow.

With an encore from a gentleman in the pub, Zoe and her fellow guitarist quickly whipped up Rhiannon (Fleetwood Mac), which was very impressive. Everybody loves that song, a fitting way to round off the evening.

In what was labelled "covid style music" Jacobs put on a really safe and relaxing atmosphere with the tables apart and everybody keeping masks on.
