Bango Kitchen, an Asian fusion restaurant in Penryn, has made the decision to close after a significant drop in customers following the Coronavirus pandemic.

As Coronavirus fear hits the country, the restaurant has seen a considerable decline in diners visiting - with it peaking at their quietest day yesterday.

Their separate company that can be booked for private functions, The Shellfish Pig, is also closing for the time being.

A string of event cancellations has meant that this side of the business has also suffered considerably in the last week.

Nick Archer, co-owner of the restaurant, told Nub News:

"We had to do what was right for our family, business, staff and customers.

"This is a tough decision and we're not taking it lightly, but we feel this is what is best for us."

Announcing their closure on the Bango Kitchen Facebook page, they said:

"We want to thank our staff for their hard work and understanding, we will have your back through this.

"To our loyal, wonderful customers - a huge thanks for your support from day one. We appreciate it more than you know!

"We urge you to safely continue supporting Cornwall's local restaurants, cafes, suppliers and producers while they remain open, and to look out for each other!

"We will be back just as soon as we can!"
