Co-op to takeover retail unit below The Liner development

Co-op is the retail unit that will go in under The Liner building on Cliff Road, it has been revealed this week.

The Coop submitted a licensing application for the sale of alcohol - meaning it is looking likely the company will slot into the vacant unit.

The Liner is a fifty-three beachfront apartment and penthouse complex that was set to boast a village shop, restaurant and retail space.

However, an application was submitted back in November to change the original plans to a single commercial unit as the village shop "was too small" and there was seen to be no need for a restaurant.

The previous details of the plans read:

"A food retailer will occupy the commercial area as one unit. Ramp added to aid access generally, and changes in the car parking area, entrance and unit 5 all due to detailed design development."

The Coop has been approached for further comment.
