Falmouth & Penryn football players have been hit with the news that leagues will be suspended as a second lockdown is introduced, it was announced today.

The government's new Coronavirus restrictions will be in place from Thursday 5th November until Wednesday 2nd December.

Yesterday (6th), Councilors and dignitaries from Cornwall Council and Penzance Council marked a year to go until the Tour of Britain gets underway in Penzance by confirming more details of the route for the first visit by the race to Cornwall.

Cornwall will now host the Tour of Britain for the first time on Sunday 5th September 2021 with a 183 kilometre (113.5 mile) opening stage from Penzance to Bodmin.

Yesterday afternoon (20th), the Falmouth lifeboat crew were assisted by coastguard teams to rescue individuals from a rip current at Maenporth.

Launching at 3.24pm in rough seas, the inshore lifeboat made its way towards the beach.

IN an announcement, made today (19th) new guidelines have been issued to get football supporters back into matches in Falmouth and beyond.

The guidelines include a phased and limited return of spectators for clubs at steps three to six and tiers three to four.

Falmouth Rugby Club has responded following the RFU's latest decision on returning to play.

The latest decision means that the adult league season (Level 3 & below for men, Level 2 & below for women) will not commence in September "unless there is a dramatic improvement in the prevalence of the virus in the community."

As a return to rugby draws closer, Penryn RFC has announced the coaching and captaincy structure for the 2020-2021 season.

Marek Churcher has stepped up to take on the Director of Rugby mantle at the Borough and will combine a vision for the club's on-field matters, with continued coaching of the first XV. He takes over from Dave Levick.

Falmouth Netball Club has been quietly growing the past few years, gaining members and entering new teams in the Cornwall League across the divisions.

Falmouth's 1st Team have been building on the Club's momentum, and this season has finished top of Division Two.

Penryn made it three wins on the bounce, with an excellent 21-17 victory at Cullompton in what was a fiery encounter. The Borough again raced into a healthy lead and despite a late rally from the home side, had done enough to bring home the points to Cornwall.

Penryn would have been keen to back up two impressive home bonus-point victories with an away win, but knew full well Cullompton would provide a stern test. The home side were in desperate need for the points sitting at the wrong end of the table and they took the lead, with an early penalty.

Penryn produced one of their finest performances of the season, as they moved into the top six with an eight-try hammering of Chard on Saturday. The Borough avenged an earlier defeat to Chard this season, with a sparkling display that takes them to a point behind Saturday's visitors who remain in fifth.

With last week's game between the two sides postponed, both came into the contest fresh and looking to lay down an early marker. Despite the recent poor weather and a game being played on the same pitch earlier in the afternoon, the surface held out remarkably well. Penryn however, were the ones to put it to good use,

Fourteen players from Penryn RFC's girl's section have been selected to represent their county this season, with six joining the Cornwall's U18 girls squad and a further eight in the U15s, more than doubling the club's representation from last season.

Eight of the girls will be making their county debuts this season, and Penryn will also be represented on both coaching teams as well.
