Falmouth Community Youth Football Club hosts girls tournament thanks to £1000 donation
Falmouth Community Youth Football Club hosted their first ever "Euronics Girls Tournament" on Sunday 11th June. This took place on the 3G and grass pitches at Falmouth School and was free to all the girls thanks to the funding given.
The community group coaches young people from the ages of 5 years to 16 years and provides a friendly and supportive environment for all.
65 girls attended the day which consisted of fun training, matches, and a penalty shootout against their coaches. There were 10 coaches supporting the girls, led by the Girls' Representative for the club Andrew Jenkin who also organised the day. Certificates and sweets were given out to the girls for their achievements.
Funding was made available to the girls from Euronics / Cornwall Appliances and a cheque for £1,000 was presented to the club by Matt Charman in February 2023. The money has been spent on coaching qualifications for 2 coaches, goals, footballs, and the tournament.
Andrew Jenkin said of the day "I feel very proud in my role as girls rep to see so many girls from all ages brought together through football. It has been such a fantastic day thanks to Euronics and all the coaches/helpers who made today very special".
Chair Janine Kennedy reported " I am so very proud of how our club has supported the significant rise in girls football over the last 2 years. Seeing so many girls from different age groups enjoying playing football, meeting new friends and having so much fun together was an absolute delight."
£120 was raised from a cake stall which is being put towards supporting another tournament due to the success of this years event
