Young rider dies in crash on Falmouth beach road

A young motorbike rider died on Swanpool Road last night.
A young motorbike rider died on Swanpool Road last night.

Police have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following the death of a young motorbike rider in the Falmouth area yesterday (Friday, 28 April) and officers from Devon and Cornwall Police's Roads Policing Team are leading an investigation.

An alarm was raised around 7.10pm following the single-vehicle crash on Swanpool Road. Police have not specified which part of the road the crash took place on and large stretch of it was closed for several hours.

Police have expressed thanks to motorists for their co-operation and patience while the early stages of the investiagtion took place.

The rider of a silver Yamaha motorbike, a man in his 20s from Falmouth, was confirmed to have died at the scene.

Police have said formal identification is yet to take place but the man's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.

A spokesperson said: "Anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area and may have dash-cam, doorbell or CCTV footage that could assist the investigation, is asked to contact police.
