Work got underway on a bridleway this week in Budock Water after

a path closed due to a collapsing surface.

The route on bridleway 14 and 46, Budock will be closed for 21 days, the work finishing on the 3rd January.

Cornwall Council has stated that it is necessary for the work to be carried out because the collapsing surface could cause danger to the public. The restrictions will be in place 24 hours a day.

A spokesperson for Cormac said:

"If the works cannot be completed during that period, the Council may issue a further notice under section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or make a temporary Order under section 14(1) of that Act, so as to continue in force the provisions of this notice for a further period of time.

"It is necessary for the above restriction to come into force without delay because of the likelihood of danger to the public during repairs to collapsing surface of footpath.

"While the prohibition is in operation traffic, including bicycle movement, along the highway specified in paragraph 1, will be temporarily restricted. No personnel, except upon the direction of a police constable in uniform, cause or permit any vehicle or pedal cycle to enter on, proceed or wait in the length of highway."
